Walter has to pause at that question. It's not an easy one to answer. After a moment, he frowns a little. "I don't know." He shifts his weight from one foot to the other awkwardly, shrugging. "To see if it was real."
He guesses he got his answer. He fidgets with the hair still wrapped around his arm, for lack of anything better to do.
